The areas of ministry for WOW JAM Charlotte 2008 are listed below. If you would like to sign up to volunteer in one of these ministries, please go to our online registration form.

Each volunteer may choose one ministry per day during the week of WOW JAM - Wednesday, July 30 to Saturday, August 2. For more detailed information, click a ministry name on the list below.

Altar Support
About Altar Support:
The Altar Support team organizes and supplies ministry materials to all the prayer counselors as they are meeting with those who came forward during the altar call. After the WOW week, a couple members of the Altar Team are responsible for inputting the salvation cards into an Excel program (16 or older) Baby Rocking
About Baby Rocking:
The Baby Rocking team organizes the supplies for the tent and rocks babies on the day of the WOW JAM so that caregivers can experience the outreach. This tent stays operational until the WOW JAM is concluded. (16 or older) Bike Repair
About Bike Repair:
The Bike Repair team takes disassembled parts and repairs and assembles children’s bikes during the WOW JAM outreach. Mechanics, bike check-in greeters, bike returners and parts coordinators are needed in this area. During the WOW JAMs this tent/area stays operational until the WOW JAM is concluded. (14 or older) Children's Book Nook
About Children's Book Nook:
The Children's Book Nook Team reads books to young children. Driver
About Driver:
Bus drivers are needed to transport volunteers to and from parking areas to WOW sites. Also, drivers are needed to transport visitors to and from the Lake Norman YMCA for the baptism service. It is possible for this team to participate in the festival time during the outreaches, but difficult to participate in the altar time. (Drivers must hold CDL with Passenger license) Career Counseling
About Career Counseling:
The Career Counseling team is responsible for recruiting companies and organizations to take applications for employment, provide interview suggestions, and provide other support to unemployed individuals. (Adults only) Children’s Crafts
About Children’s Crafts:
The Children’s Crafts team is responsible for helping children create fun crafts. (12 or older) Children’s Games
About Children’s Games:
The Children’s Games team is responsible for helping children play games and use the bounce houses. (12 or older) Destiny Dress-up
About Destiny Dress-up:
The Destiny Dress-up team is a place where hope abounds. Created for children and youth as a place to picture God’s potential for their life. When the guest dresses up in a costume that represents who they would like to be in the future, they are given a photo of themselves and we pray their dream is realized. Volunteers needed for check-in, line guides, kids guide, costume table, destiny dressers, photography, un-dressers, prayer volunteers, and check-out. (16 or older) Face Painting
About Face Painting:
The Face Painting team is responsible for painting fun things are kids and adults faces. Youth volunteers aged 12-16 will do face painting on toddlers – 5 year olds and then over 16 do face painting on children over 6 and adults. (12 or older) Family Photos
About Family Photos:
The Family Photo team is responsible for taking photos of families for delivery after the WOW JAMs. The photos are part of our “After Care” ministry. Adult volunteers are needed for this tent. Family Photo volunteers will also need to package the photos after the WOW JAMs and deliver them to local churches for delivery to the families. (16 or older) Food Preparation
About Food Preparation:
The Food Preparation team prepares and serves the food to approximately 1,500 guests and volunteers at each of the WOW JAMs. (18 or older) Hair Cuts
About Hair Cuts:
The Hair Cut team cuts men and children’s hair during the festival time at the WOW JAMs. (Adults must be licensed) Health & Wellness
About Health & Wellness:
The Health and Wellness team helps screen, distribute literature, and answer health and wellness questions during the festival time. This tent also serves as our First Aid Tent and needs to be equipped accordingly. (Adult professionals in the health care field) Makeovers
About Makeovers:
The Makeover team is responsible for applying make-up to ladies 18 and over during the festival time at the WOW JAMs. (16 and older)
| Nail Painting
About Nail Painting:
The Nail Painting team is responsible for applying nail-polish on adult and youth during the festival time at the WOW JAMs. (15 or older) On-site Intercession
About On-site Intercession:
The On-site Intercession team is responsible for stationing people to pray behind the stage, through-out the crowd, walking the perimeter of site and walking behind the tents throughout the festival time and during the presentation of the Gospel message. Youth intercessors will be paired up with adults if they are walking the perimeter of the site or praying behind the tents. (16 or older) Parking Attendants
About Parking Attendants:
The Parking Attendants Team helps to direct volunteers to designated parking areas. Plant Give-away
About Plant Give-away:
The Plant Give-Away team is responsible for organizing the giving away of about 100 live small plants a day. (16 or older) Prize Give-away
About Prize Give-away:
The Prize Team is responsible for collecting the prizes prior to the outreach, arranging them on the stage daily, helping people retrieve their prize and decorating the stage and ticket tent. (Adults) Security
About Security:
The Security team is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for all guests and volunteers. Those serving on the security team are unable to serve as prayer counselors or serve at other tents. This is an all day commitment. (Adults) Senior Saints
About Senior Saints:
The Senior Saints Team is responsible providing hospitality to guests over 65. At least 2 volunteers need to be with this tent to the conclusion of the WOW JAM outreach. (16 or older) Site Logistics
About Site Logistics:
The Site Logistics Team serves all the other WOW Ministry Teams. This team is responsible for organizing all the ministry team’s supplies at the WOW JAM/Charlotte warehouse; setting up each site, maintaining and tearing down sites. The volunteers on this team need to be able to arrive early, they are first on site, and some need to be able to leave with the supply truck. The majority of site logistics team is unable to serve as prayer counselors during the altar call. (16 or older) Snow Cones
About Snow Cones:
The Snow Cone Team makes and serves snow cones to guests. (14 or older) Spanish Translation
About Spanish Translation:
Assist in the translation at ministry booth and during altar ministry. Tent Set-up
About Tent Set-up:
The Tent Set-up Team is responsible for setting up tents before the WOW outreach and then will tear down tents when focus shifts to the stage. In between these times they are welcome to relax or help in other areas. Tent Team volunteers need to be able to be at the site at 1 pm. (15 or older) Tickets
About Tickets:
The Ticket Team is responsible for handing out tickets to all guests for prize drawings. Adults get one color ticket and children get a different color. This team also has bags available for guests who win prizes. (14 or older) Tot Lot (2-4 yr. olds)
About Tot Lot:
The Tot Lot Team is responsible for caring for 2-4 year olds so the adults who brought them can fully experience the WOW JAM outreach. The Tot Lot is operational until the conclusion of the outreach. (14 or older) Volunteer Registration
About Volunteer Registration:
The Volunteer Registration Team serves before, during and after the WOW outreach week. Several of the pre-event team members need to have computer skills and a few can serve who have phone skills. One of the first tents to go up, during the outreach, the volunteers need to be adults who are familiar with the layout of the site and who work well under pressure. After the WOW week, the Registration Team finalizes the volunteer lists. (Adults) Water Tent
About Water Tent:
The Water Team provides cups of water to guests and volunteers. (14 or older) |

Baptism Bus Host
About Baptism Bus Host:
Bus hosts will be responsible for riding the buses with our guests to and from the baptism site, checking permission slips, providing information about the baptism service, placing security bracelets on each guest so they return on the correct bus, get names for baptism certificates and then distribute those certificates on the way home, communicate with the WOW JAM/Charlotte Coordinator when the bus has exited I-77 and confirm number of people on the bus. (Adults) Baptism Greeter
About Baptism Greeter:
Greeters will meet guests at their buses upon arrival at the baptism site. Greeters can be families or individuals. The greeters assist the guests with lunch, provide them a blanket to sit on at the beach, hold their possessions during the baptism and escort them back to the bus pick-up area. (16 and older) Baptism Pastor
About Baptism Pastor:
Baptize new believers (Must be certified). Calligraphers
About Calligraphers:
Write names in calligraphy on baptism certificates. Picnic Server
About Picnic Server:
Responsible for setting-up and serving lunch at the Baptism, and clean-up of the service area.
| Site Logistics
About Site Logistics:
Responsible for set-up and clean-up of site. Set-up begins at about 11 am. People can help with set-up, clean-up or both. (16 and older) Spanish Translation
About Spanish Translation:
Assist in translation at the baptism. Water Patrol
About Water Patrol:
Provide safety and oversight for children in shallow end of lake before the Baptism Service begins. (Adults) Water Releasers
About Water Releasers:
Responsible for maintaining the lines of people going into the waters of baptism. These volunteers also make sure the person being baptized has someone to hold their belongings. (16 and older) Volunteer Registration
About Volunteer Registration:
Check in pre-registered volunteers and assign walk-in volunteers. Records for the day need to be transferred to the WOW Registration Volunteer Ministry Team Leader for inclusion into the master volunteer list. (Adults) |
